Jena Antonucci is now the first-ever female trainer to win the Belmont Stakes or any Triple Crown race. It’s been a long time coming, but that glass ceiling has finally been broken.

Javier Castellano, the Venezuelan jockey, added the Belmont Stakes win to his 2023 Kentucky Derby victory atop Mage. It’s been an incredible year for him.

Archangelo clearly wasn’t the favorite, with odds opening on Friday at 8-1. That didn’t matter in the end. It’s not about what people expect of the horse, it’s what they do.
