As Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 2-1 and rose to the lead in La Liga, this match made a special sense for Sergio Ramos.

The 34-year-old football player set a record by scoring the goal that put his team ahead 1-0 from the penalty spot. Ramos has scored 68 goals in his La Liga career, surpassing Barcelona legend Ronald Koeman to become the top scorer defender in league history.

But there were also negative moments for the Spanish star. Ramos had to leave the game with a knee injury 10 minutes after the goal he scored in the 50th minute.

Having four La Liga and four Champions League victories with Real Madrid, to which he transferred in 2005, Sergio Ramos won the World Cup once and the European Championship twice with the Spanish jersey.

Ramos missed just one of the 17 penalties he took at Real Madrid.
