British No 1 Emma Raducanu will have to bide her time and wait for withdrawals after being announced as the fourth main draw alternate for the women's entry list into Indian Wells which begins on March 6 and runs through until March 19.

The former US Open champion has dropped down to No 80 in the world following an early exit at the Australian Open.

Fellow Brits Cam Norrie, Dan Evans, Jack Draper and Andy Murray all have direct entry into the men's singles, while Kyle Edmund has made it in with his protected ranking.

Defending champion Iga Swiatek and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka lead the entry list for the women.

Swiatek aims to become the first woman to win back-to-back titles in Indian Wells since Martina Navratilova in 1990-91.

Other notable names to earn direct entry include Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, former champions Bianca Andreescu, Victoria Azarenka and Paula Badosa.
