Coming into Monday’s Premier League fixture between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford, it seemed as if the outcome was all but predetermined. United had dropped their first two matches of the season, even against perceived inferior competition, and had looked awful in doing so.
Meanwhile, Liverpool came into the match having not come away from a Premier League match with points since December 2021. Thus, there seemed to be no way the visiting side wasn’t going to, at worst, come away with a draw if not an emphatic win.
But after Jadon Sancho worked beautifully in the box early in the first half to find the back of the net and then Marcus Rashford added on right out of halftime, Manchester United were able to pull off the stunner and walk away with three points from a 2-1 victory.
