At the Australian Open, 18 seeded men's singles Karen Khachanov and 22 women's singles seed Elena Rybakina advanced to the semi-finals.

Singles matches were completed in the morning session of the 9th day of the tournament held in Melbourne.

In the men's singles quarterfinals, Khachanov faced the 29th seeded USA's Sebastian Korda. Khachanov won the first two sets with results 7-6 and 6-3 and took the lead 2-0. The Russian tennis player made his mark in the semi-finals when Korda withdrew from the match with an injury while he was leading the third set 3-0.

In the other game of the day, Kazakh Rybakina, who won last year's Wimbledon, competed with the 2017 French Open champion, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko (seeded 17), in the women's singles quarterfinals. Rybakina won 2-0 with sets that ended 6-2 and 6-4 and remained in the last 4.

In the semi-finals, where Khachanov will face the winner of Stefanos Tsitsipas (3)-Jiri Lehecka, Rybakina's opponent will be the winner of the Jessica Pegula (3)-Victoria Azarenka (24) match.
