Lewis Hamilton has returned to the track in a Mercedes Formula 1 car for the first time in 2023.
The seven-time world champion is driving Mercedes' W13 car from last year as the team conduct a tyre test on behalf of Pirelli.
After his team-mate George Russell drove on Wednesday at the Circuit Paul Ricard in the south of France, it was Hamilton's turn to take to the wheel on Thursday.
After having limited opportunity for tyre testing in 2022, Pirelli have invited all 10 teams to aid their research this year.
The FIA send an observer to the tests to ensure that the configuration and parts used on the cars have been used in 2022 Grand Prix, while teams aren't permitted to experiment with setups.
