Novak Djokovic, who defeated Daniil Medvedev 3-0 at the Australian Open, the first grand slam tennis tournament of the season, became the champion.

1 seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic and 4th seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev faced off in the men's singles final of the tournament held in Melbourne.

Starting the match well, Djokovic broke the serve in the second game where his opponent made three simple mistakes in a row and brought the situation to 3-0 in 8 minutes. In the fifth game, this time, Medvedev, who made good use of the three simple mistakes made by the Serbian tennis player and broke the serve, took the service game without giving any points and carried the score to 3-3.

Djokovic, who took a 40-0 lead in Medvedev's service game after five balanced games, did not give his opponent a chance to return and scored the first set 7-5.

Djokovic, who won three games in a row, took the lead 4-1 in the second set, which started with two tennis players breaking each other's serve. The Serbian racquet, who managed to hold on to his serve in the seventh game he had difficulties and retained his advantage, broke the serve once again in the next game and won the set, which lasted 35 minutes, 6-2.

Djokovic, who started the third set with two double mistakes and fell back 40-15, took the first game by rejecting his break points. The Serbian tennis player, who made good use of Medvedev's double mistakes and broke his serve, who had difficulty in maintaining his motivation, brought the situation to 3-0 by holding on to his own serve.

Djokovic, who took control of the game completely, broke the serve once again in the 8th game and won the set 6-2 and the match 3-0.

At the Australian Open, Djokovic holds the title of the tennis player with the most championships, reaching his 9th victory after 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. With this victory, the Serbian racket won the 18th grand slam title of his career, the 82nd Professional Tennis Association (ATP) tournament title.

In men's singles, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have 20 grand slam titles each.

Djokovic also won the 2.75 million Australian dollar (approximately 15 million lira) prize money.
