Brentford vow to stand by Dasilva beyond end of his contract this summer

Brentford have vowed to stand by Josh Dasilva beyond the end of his contract this summer and continue to rehabilitate the midfielder during his long road ahead to recovery.
Dasilva was forced to undergo significant surgery to damaged knee ligaments in February - just three months before the end of his current Brentford deal - and he is not expected to return until well into next season.
The 25-year-old, who signed from Arsenal's academy in 2018, has become accustomed to dealing with the psychological and physical strain of serious-injury recovery, having missed almost 100 Brentford matches in nearly six years at the club.

Dasilva's huge promise was first dampened by a hip problem picked up in March 2021 that saw him spend more than 300 days out and miss their promotion to the Premier League, returning almost a year later.
He was impressive across 36 Premier League appearances last season, mostly from the bench, but then missed 17 games at the beginning of the current campaign, having gone down with a hamstring problem, before injuring knee ligaments in training after just two games back in the fold.
Head coach Thomas Frank promised to give Dasilva "all the support we can" following the incident, while the midfielder himself said: "I've come back before so I know I'll come back even stronger."
The Bees will continue to rehabilitate him throughout the process, even after he becomes a free agent on July 1, before assessing his ability to return to the squad. It is integral to Brentford's 'family' ethos to stand by their players in times of personal difficulty.
Brentford have been among the clubs to have suffered the most from injuries this season, with Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry and Ben Mee also not expected to play again this season.
They have recently welcomed back Kevin Schade and Ethan Pinnock, with Christian Norgaard set to follow in the coming weeks, while Ivan Toney is managing a minor knock and stayed on the bench for the 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday.
