Horse Racing Aqueduct Saturday Preview: Jerome Stakes Analysis

The Saturday card from Aqueduct features the Jerome and the Queens County. Arctic Arrogance is the favorite heading into the Jerome.

Aqueduct- Race 1​

Post: 11:50 AM ET; $35k Claiming going 1 1/8 miles on dirt; Entries: 7

• #4 WINTER POOL (4-5) gets the top selection. He has races good enough to beat this group. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Rice and Cancel.
• #3 GOLDINI (5-1) seems to fit well enough here.
• #6 ICY STORM (7-2) looks to be the class of the field. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance.
• #5 KUMAR (15-1) could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.

Aqueduct- Race 2​

• #1 DISARMED (6-1) is the top pick. He is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
• #6 SCARAMANGA (6-1) should improve off the first start and appears to be a major player in this race. He could be a dangerous threat to get loose on the front end.
• #4 BUSTINO SANTINO (3-1) has to be respected going out for the combination of Levine and Carmouche. This one shouldn't have trouble with the 6 furlong distance.
• #5 PLEASE BE NICE (5-2) debuts here and feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He goes out for the Mott barn and gets Lezcano in the irons.

• #5 SKYLANDER (7-2) looks best here. He shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one has to be respected going out for the combination of Englehart and Davis.
• #6 BLU GROTTO (5-2) appears to be a major player in this race. This one comes into the race in really good form.
• #4 HOLEY MATRIMONY (4-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #3 WILL E SUTTON (8-1) feels like a fringe contender in this spot. He has to be respected going out for the combination of Kantarmaci and Franco.

• #4 SCILLY CAY (7-2) appears to be a major player in this race. He will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #2 BOLD JOURNEY (8-1) isn't without hope. He could get the right setup in this race.
• #8 VICTORY BUILT (6-1) makes sense on speed figures. He may get a really nice pace scenario here.

• #4 FROMANOTHAMUTHA (9-2) seems to fit well enough here.
• #2 SWIFT TAP (3-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #3 AFJAN (12-1) is a price horse and seems to be running for the minor placings in this contest, but could provide a little value in the vertical gimmicks.

• #5 SPELTERINI (2-1) looks best here. She has tactical speed and can sit just off the leaders for a stalk and pounce trip. This one is a good bet to hit the board in this type of race.
• #7 RISK FREE (10-1) has races good enough to beat this group. This one should be sitting in the second tier of runners and looking to make one well timed run at the leaders.
• #9 SENIOR PRANK (3-1) debuts here and the line suggests she can run. She has to be respected going out for the combination of Brown and Franco.
• #2 FABULOUSLY FUNNY (4-1) goes out at first asking for the Dutrow barn and gets Lezcano in the irons.

• #1A PERCEIVED (8-1) isn't without hope. He could get the right setup in this race.
• #11 PIT BOSS (15-1) is probably best to put underneath on most tickets, but seems reasonable enough to add value.

• #4 LUGAN KNIGHT (4-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 mile distance. This one will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.
• #7 GENERAL BANKER (8-1) will likely be in the first flight of runners and should be in with a chance late.

• #11 DOUBLE CROWN (10-1) shouldn't have trouble with the 1 1/8 mile distance. This one may benefit from a hot pace up front.
• #1 FOREWARNED (20-1) projects to sit mid pack and come with one run.
