Udinese vs Bologna Predictions

  • Udinese have seen both teams score in 10 of their last 13 games.
  • Meanwhile, both teams have netted in four of the last six matches to feature Bologna.
  • Only seven Serie A sides have bettered Bologna’s tally of 21 league goals this campaign, Udinese are among them.

Out-of-shape Zebrette to be tested

While Andrea Sottil’s Udinese remain just six points adrift of a potential European spot, they must improve to salvage any hopes of continental qualification after embarking on a dire run either side of the World Cup break. The Zebrette are winless in 10 games in all competitions, and Sunday’s fixture against Bologna at the Dacia Arena may see them tested once again.
Indeed, Udinese last tasted victory against lowly Verona on October 3 – in a game which represented their sixth successive victory at the time. Since then, Sottil’s men have struggled to keep the goals out, managing just two clean sheets in 10 games and seeing both teams find the net in 10 of their last 13. Udinese have seen 20 goals scored in their eight home Serie A games this term, and that tally may increase when Bologna visit Udine.
Bologna have yet to win since the World Cup break, going down to top sides in Roma and Atalanta after winning five of their last six games ahead of the tournament. Thiago Motta’s men have conceded 19 goals in 11 league games since he took charge, and only Serie A’s bottom three Verona, Sampdoria and Cremonese have shipped more goals in the competition this season. However, only seven sides – Udinese among them – have outscored Bologna in Serie A this term.

Both defences to be breached in Udine

Given Udinese’s poor run of form and the likelihood of Bologna – led by Serie A’s joint-second highest goalscorer Marko Arnautovic – carrying a threat, backing both teams to net looks prudent. Four of the last six games played by the visitors have contained goals at both ends.
Meanwhile, a 1-1 draw could represent a solid correct score prediction – Udinese have managed a league-high seven draws in 17 Serie A contests this season.
