RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Leipzig are unbeaten across their last 13 competitive fixtures (W11, D2).
  • Bayern have scored at least twice in each of their last eight Bundesliga matches.
  • No side has stopped Leipzig from scoring in a competitive home game since March 2022.

The Bundesliga is back with a bang

Following a lengthy winter break due to the World Cup, the Bundesliga makes it’s long anticipated return with a clash of two of the biggest teams in the land. Leipzig have not tasted defeat in any of their last 13 competitive games whilst Bayern Munich fly high at the top of the table, making this a tricky game to pick a clear cut winner in.
Leipzig are rightful outsiders here given Bayern’s seemingly never ending stranglehold on German football, yet a run of six consecutive home league wins ahead of the break will serve to inspire confidence amongst the Red Bull ranks ahead of the return.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich recorded six straight league wins ahead of the World Cup and come here knowing that a victory is needed to see off the advances of the would-be pretenders to their throne, surprise packages Freiburg and the usual suspects, Leipzig.

A recipe for goals

With both sides in such scintillating form, we fancy this game to be an absolute thriller which is befitting of the return of one of Europe’s most-watched leagues. Whilst we feel backing Bayern is risky at the prices, we are sticking with them to notch a 3-1 victory for smaller stakes in our correct score pick.
Our main prediction is for both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals in the game, a short price indeed but one which also seems fair considering the prolific frontline that both sides possess. Leipzig’s attack will likely be spearheaded by Timo Werner, who has nine competitive goals this season.
Meanwhile, Bayern may look to 19 year-old wunderkind Jamal Musiala an outlet. He has already made more overall goal contributions than any Bundesliga player ahead of the restart with nine goals and six assists and has only failed to score in one of his last six domestic appearances.
