Monza vs Sassuolo Predictions

  • Sassuolo are winless in their last seven Serie A games, losing six times during that run.
  • Monza, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last four league outings.
  • Sassuolo have only earned five points from nine away league matches this season, fewer than all but Verona and Cremonese in Serie A.

Neroverdi on the slide

Sassuolo have won plenty of admirers for adopting a fearless approach to the game in recent seasons, but the Neroverdi are being touted as surprise candidates for the drop after a seven-game winless run put them 17th in Serie A. Though Alessio Dionisi’s side remain seven points clear of a dismal bottom three, they need an improvement when they go to Monza – but it will be a difficult task.
Sassuolo’s 2-0 home loss to Lazio was their sixth in their last seven league outings, with Dionisi’s men failing to score on four occasions in that run while conceding 15 times. Only fellow strugglers Verona (three) and Cremonese (four) have won fewer points on the road than Sassuolo in Serie A this campaign (five), and they have also lost each of their last five away games. Meanwhile, only five Serie A teams have conceded more than the 28 goals shipped by the Neroverdi to date this season, leaving Dionisi under pressure.
Monza, on the other hand, are unbeaten in four league games either side of the World Cup, winning eight points from meetings with Salernitana, Fiorentina, Inter and Cremonese before Thursday’s brave Coppa Italia exit at Juventus. Raffaele Palladino’s men have impressed on home soil recently, recording four wins and one draw in their last six at the Stadio Brianteo, scoring multiple goals in four of their last five.

Monza can add to Dionisi’s woes

With Monza in strong form and Sassuolo really struggling of late, backing the hosts – who are 12 points clear of trouble despite starting the season with a six-match winless run – appears a decent play.
Meanwhile, with both teams scoring in each of Monza’s last four games, a 2-1 home success could represent a good value correct score play.
