Juventus vs Monza Predictions

  • Juventus had won five consecutive games to nil before their 5-1 thrashing at Napoli last week.
  • In all competitions, the Bianconeri have conceded just three goals in their last seven home games.
  • Massimiliano Allegri’s team have seen under 3.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight matches.
  • Monza have lost three of their last five away games, only beating Serie A’s bottom club Cremonese in that run.

Bianconeri bid to bounce back

Juventus’ 5-1 hammering at Napoli sent shockwaves through Italian football on Friday, surely ending the Bianconeri’s slim Scudetto hopes and leaving the Partenopei as undisputed title favourites. If Massimiliano Allegri is to claim any silverware this season, his best chance may be in the Coppa Italia, which he won four times in his first spell with Juve. If the Turin giants are to reach the last eight, they must triumph against the side which provided the low point of their season to date.
Allegri looked to be on the brink of being sacked when Juve suffered a 1-0 defeat at Monza in September, and Raffaele Palladino’s men have gone from strength to strength since, only losing once – at Lazio – in their last six outings. Monza have claimed creditable draws against Fiorentina and Inter Milan since the World Cup break, and they look likely to keep things competitive on Thursday, even if they have lost three of their last five on the road, only winning at Serie A strugglers Cremonese in that run.
Juventus’ defensive capitulation against Napoli was made more shocking by the fact they had won all of their previous five games to nil, while seven of their last eight matches have contained under 3.5 goals. Given the necessity of Juve bouncing back and the fact the Coppa Italia represents their best chance of winning a trophy this term, Allegri is unlikely to field a weakened line-up, and a team which has conceded just three times in their last seven home games will be confident of progressing.

Juventus to edge tight affair

With Juventus continuing to boast Serie A’s best defensive record despite their heavy loss in Naples and Monza struggling on the road, we’re backing the hosts to win a game containing under 3.5 goals – a bet which offers punters additional value and keeps plenty of scorelines in play.
Meanwhile, Allegri’s team can get revenge on Monza for September’s Serie A upset with a 2-0 win, reaching the last eight for a 16th consecutive season.
