Bologna vs Cremonese Predictions

  • Cremonese are yet to win in Serie A this season and have lost each of their last four games in the competition.
  • Bologna have won five of their last eight league games, with their three defeats in that run coming against Inter Milan, Roma and Atalanta.
  • Bologna have earned 15 of their 22 Serie A points on home soil this season.

Cremonese hope for new manager bounce

Cremonese are looking to avoid the ignominy of reaching the halfway point of the Serie A season without collecting a single win, having recorded seven draws and 11 defeats since their promotion. They will hope the appointment of Davide Ballardini as head coach represents a turning point, and the new boss could hardly have asked for a better start than Tuesday’s Coppa Italia penalty shoot-out triumph over Napoli. Monday’s visit to Bologna, however, will represent a tough test.
Bologna exited the Coppa Italia with a narrow defeat at Lazio on Thursday, but Thiago Motta’s men have been in good form in the league, winning five of their last eight Serie A matches – losing the others against top opponents in Inter, Roma and Atalanta. Having claimed 15 of their 22 points on home soil this term, the Rossoblu will be excited by the prospect of hosting a Cremonese side who have lost back-to-back away games in the top flight, including at fellow strugglers Verona.
While Cremonese’s midweek triumph over the Scudetto favourites was certainly encouraging, Luciano Spaletti’s Napoli did ring the changes for a game they predictably dominated. Ballardini must fix Cremonese’s attacking problems if they are to have any chance of survival – Serie A’s bottom side have failed to net in six of their last eight league matches, scoring just 13 goals this season.

Ballardini unlikely to enjoy instant impact

With Bologna winning four of their last five home matches in all competitions, backing the Rossoblu to demonstrate the size of Ballardini’s task by dealing Cremonese a fifth consecutive league defeat appears prudent.
Meanwhile, Bologna have hit multiple goals in five of their last eight league matches, and a routine 2-0 triumph for the hosts could represent a decent correct score prediction.
