The NHL Friday slate is rather light with just 3 games on the board. However, that’s always just to gear us up for a huge Saturday. Also, we’re still always here to make sure we’re finding you the best value no matter what. In an effort to provide you with 2 strong plays to build the bankroll before the big Saturday slate, we have the rare case of selecting props for teammates, and therefore correlating plays. They’re both equally as strong so rather than just pick one of them or force a play in a different, less-than-ideal matchup, this looks to be the most profitable approach, so let’s get into it.

Along with our player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Jesper Bratt over 0.5 assists (-120)

Before we dive in, with us having teammates and correlating plays, much of what we break down will apply to both skaters. With that in mind, the New Jersey Devils continue to be the biggest surprise of the NHL season. Of course they’re not catching anyone off guard anymore, but they’ve seemed to find their groove once again. They’re coming off back-to-back wins against the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes, the team that recently surpassed them in the Metro Division.

More impressively, they took down the ‘Canes without Jesper Bratt or Jack Hughes recording a single point. That’s been quite the rarity this season, as they have been incredible together. Bratt, the left-winger and Hughes, the center, have linked up quite often. Bratt has 40 points through 41 games, 25 of which have been assists. Now he and the Devils get to face the Anaheim Ducks. Bratt had 2 assists against them earlier this season, and had at least an assist in each of his first 5 career games against them. That was before Jersey was as good as they are now, so that trend should only get stronger.

Jack Hughes over 1.5 points (+135)

The primary reason the Devils have become such a strong team is the play of Jack Hughes. He looks like a future Art Ross Trophy winner for the NHL leader in points and even a future Hart Trophy winner for the league’s MVP. He’s just 21 years old and is currently leading the team with 49 points through 41 games. While he had that rare pointless night against the Hurricanes, he scored multiple points in each of the 3 games prior, including 3 points against an elite goaltender in New York Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin.

That was his third time recording 3 points, and he’s recorded at least 2 in 16 games already this season. One of which was alongside Bratt against the Ducks. Keep in mind that Anaheim is still the only team allowing more than 4 goals per game this year. Hughes is the volume shot-taker on the team, which is why there is the correlation of a Bratt assist to lead into a Hughes goal. Lastly, the Ducks have committed the 2nd-most penalties this season, so they have a great chance to link up on the man advantage as well. However they get it done, expect a big night from these teammates.
