Benfica unhappy over Fernandez deal: 'We are being disrespected'
Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt says the club are being disrespected by a club chasing Enzo Fernandez.Schmidt said: "There is a club that wants him, they tried to attract him, but they know that they can only have him if they pay the clause.
"It's disrespectful to all of us, to Benfica, they're driving the player crazy, they pretend they want to pay the clause and then they want to negotiate”.
Sky Sports News reported on Wednesday that Benfica were not happy about the way Chelsea approached a potential deal to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez and that the player’s head had been turned by the approach.
Meetings between Chelsea, Benfica and agents yesterday concluded without a deal being agreed.
Sources in Portugal claim Fernandez requested to be left out of Benfica's game at Braga on Friday. He played 89 minutes of the 3-0 defeat.
Chelsea have declined to comment on Schmidt's quotes to Sky Sports News.
