Barcelona defender Sergino Dest is not enjoying the most fruitful of loan spells away at AC Milan. The 22-year-old left for Italy this past summer after two seasons at Camp Nou during which he largely underwhelmed.

However, the right-back’s fortunes have not improved greatly during his time in Lombardy as Dest has found game-time hard to come by under Stefano Pioli. So far this term, he has played just 545 minutes of football across all competitions (13 games).

As part of the loan agreement, Milan reserve the option to sign Dest permanently in the summer for a fee of €20 million.

However, according to SPORT, the Rossoneri do not wish to pay that sum and want to negotiate a lower fee with Barcelona for the USMNT international.

While Dest performed well at the World Cup, his displays for Milan have been inconsistent. Hence, the Serie A champions consider his valuation to be too high and want to lower the fee substantially or sign him on another loan deal – something that Barcelona do not wish to entertain.

At the same time, though, Dest is also attracting interest from several other clubs. Milan’s Serie A rivals AS Roma have asked about the 22-year-old on several occasions while two unnamed Premier League clubs are also interested in his services.

What is clear from Barcelona’s standpoint is that Dest has to leave the club permanently this summer. Furthermore, they have no intentions of offering any discounts and will look to recoup the entire €20 million they invested in his signing from Ajax.

With Milan unwilling to match that figure, the Blaugrana might have to look elsewhere to offload the USMNT international come summer.
