Hawks vs Warriors Prediction, Picks & Player Props (Jan. 2): Will Golden State make it five straight wins tonight? cover

Two teams going in very different directions will face off tonight at the Chase Center in San Francisco as the streaking Golden State Warriors host the struggling Atlanta Hawks in tonight’s only nationally televised NBA game (10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm local time, NBA TV).
Entering tonight, Atlanta (17-19, 6-11 away, 9th in the Eastern Conference) has lost three straight games, while Golden State (19-18, 16-2 home, 9th in the Western Conference) has won four straight games.
This will be the first game of 2023 for both of these teams, who have not played since Friday.
Last time out, the Hawks fell 130-121 at home against the Los Angeles Lakers in LeBron James’s birthday masterpiece. The Warriors, meanwhile, rode 72 combined points by Jordan Poole (41) and Klay Thompson (31) to rally for a 118-112 win over the visiting Portland Trail Blazers.
Who will come out on top tonight at the Chase Center? Continue reading for our Hawks vs Warriors prediction, as well as our Atlanta vs Golden State betting picks and analysis.

Hopeless Hawks Likely Headed for Another Loss

Things are not going well for Atlanta at all at the moment. Along with their current form, there has been speculation–which has been denied–that coach Nate McMillan may call it quits.
Now, after dropping back-to-back home games to the Nets and Lakers, the Hawks have four straight and six of seven on the road, where they have dropped five of their last six games.
In addition to being 6-11 SU on the road, Atlanta is 5-12 ATS on the road, and they have dropped six road games by double digits. Also, the Hawks are 5-10 SU and 7-8 ATS as an underdog this season.
By comparison, the Warriors, who have started their eight-game homestand with wins over the Grizzlies, Hornets, Jazz, and Trail Blazers, are 13-9 SU and 10-11-1 ATS as a favorite this season.
However, it is worth noting that the Dubs were 7-7 SU and 5-9 ATS in their first 14 games as a favorite, but they are 6-2 SU and 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight.
This win streak is huge for the Warriors, as they are taking advantage of home comforts while playing without the injured Stephen Curry, who has missed the last eight games with a left shoulder injury.
Steph is certain to miss the next three games–tonight, vs the Pistons on Thursday, and vs the Magic on Saturday–but he may well be able to return for the final game of the homestand, which is against the Phoenix Suns eight days from now.

Atlanta Hawks vs Golden State Warriors Prediction and Picks

Hawks vs Warriors Prediction: Warriors to win
Hawks vs Warriors Picks: Warriors ML (Best Value: FanDuel & BetMGM) & Warriors team total over 118.5 (Best Value: BetMGM)
While our sourced Hawks vs Warriors picks favor Atlanta to cover, I don’t see things going well for the visitors tonight, and the defensive end will likely be the biggest culprit.
In 13 of the Hawks’ 19 losses this season, they have allowed 119 or more points, including eight of their 11 road losses and six of their straight-up losses as an underdog.
Atlanta Hawks vs Golden State Warriors Player Props
  • Draymond Green over 8.5 rebounds (Best Value: BetMGM)
  • Draymond Green over 14.5 rebounds + assists (Best Value: BetMGM)
Green has 9+ rebounds in each of his last four games, and he has over 14.5 rebounds + assists in three of those games (and 14 in the one game he didn’t go over).
